My baby needs Xanex

Yesterday was an emotionally trying day...our baby got attacked on her morning walk.

While hubby was walking Heaven, a chow broke it's leash and attacked her. The chow picked her up in his mouth and shook her around as she screamed. It happened so fast that hubby wasn't able to intervene in time. It just so happens that a vet lives in our complex and heard Heaven screaming. She was so terrified...she tried biting the vet and hubby. She was seriously traumatized...she was shaky and scared all day. She hid under the couch and wouldn't come out...not even for treats. It broke my heart! We found a puncture wound on her stomach, but it doesn't appear to be anything serious. I am so thankful because it could have been so much worse. When she went on a walk last night, she was even scared of the leaves blowing. She is in better spirits today (she was extremely interested in stalking the McDonald's bag I brought home tonight), so I'm hoping she will be back to herself in no time.

It's so scary how these things happen so fast. Has anything like this ever happened to one of your fur babies? If so, how did you help him/her overcome the fear and anxiety?

poor baby! i've had two experiences like that...one was right after high school, our big ugly mutt did the exact same thing to peaches that that chow did, but unfortunately no one got to her in time and he killed her. it was DEVASTATING. sorry to bum you out like that.
one of our corgis pounced in pumpkin a few years ago and i heard her screaming and ran out and stopped it. she had huge black bruises on her tummy...so pitiful! it took a while before she'd go back in the back yard or stay in the same room when we let the corgis in.
i'm soooo paranoid about ella now! she is absolutely helpless!

poor baby. fortunately, we have never dealt with anything like that- we just deal with the puppy sickness.

but I know how much it hurts to be worried about your puppy!

That is so sad.
The same thing happened to our bull dog when a german shepherd broke his leash, now he wasn't able to pick him up but got in a couple good bites to Cooper's face. We just made sure we didn't change his routine and still took him on the same walks to the same place etc. so he wouldn't become paranoid and after a few days it was like it didn't even happen. Your little one will be better soon :)
