MIA

I promise I am still alive...

It's finals week for the first summer semester so I have been ridiculously busy writing papers and studying in addition to my clinical training. I will be back to posting and commenting on your wonderful blogs later in the week.

Wishing you all a very happy weekend...

Are you wearing Bump-Its?

We Southern Belles like to tease our hair. Being that I come from a loooong line of Southern Belles, I like to joke that I learned to tease my hair as an infant. I honestly can't remember a time in my life when I did not own a teasing comb and a big can of hairspray. I even tease my hair before a workout (it just makes the pony tail so much cuter!). It was definitely a culture shock for me when I moved to Florida and noticed that the girls here do not really tease their hair. My friend D. was so in awe of my perfectly coiffed puffs that I bought her a teasing comb and taught her the proper way to do it. Now she can tease her hair in styles that would make any Southern Belle proud.

So the other day I was out and about and not one but three girls asked if I was wearing Bump-Its. Hilarious! Here are some photos from my "big hair day":

Possibly the cutest thing you've ever seen...

Heaven's little pink bike basket arrived right on time over the weekend. Needless to say, she loved it. Hubby took her on a little ride around the parking lot just to make sure she wouldn't freak out.

We then went to the Upper Tampa Bay Trail for a family ride. She was so content with the wind blowing in her face. The only time she made a peep was when I got too far in front of her and she started crying (she has separation anxiety!). I can't wait to go on more rides with her.

And although I had hoped that the weekend would allow me to catch up on blogging, I am now more behind than ever! This summer semester is turning out to be more work than a regular semester. I would really like to meet whoever had the brillant idea of making doctor school a year-round program. I'm not a violent person, but I would like to tell this sadist what I think of the torture that is summer school. So please forgive me for the lack of posting and commenting!

I hope you are all having a very happy week!

Happy Friday!

I hope you all are enjoying the happiest day of the week! My day has not gone according to plan at all! I had every intention of getting up at 6 to run, but I just could not wake up this morning. I then had a meeting in a town about an hour away. I had planned to spend the rest of the afternoon getting caught up on school work, but my car decided to make a detour to the mall on the way home (funny how that happens sometimes right?). It's been a busy week so I decided to treat myself to some goodies from Williams-Sonoma, lavender linen spray, and a pretzel from Auntie Anne's. I also did some damage at Banana Republic (I buy almost all of my "doctor" outfits for clinical training at BR and JCrew). I had a fun afternoon but now I'm feeling a little anxious about all of the assignments I neglected.

Tonight we are celebrating my friend C.'s birthday with dinner at Cheesecake Factory. I am definitely going to have to make myself run tomorrow! I am also dying to make something out of my new favorite book:

My little furball apparently learned how to online shop and ordered herself a pink dog basket to go on our bikes. According to her father (who apparently caught her shopping), the basket will be in tomorrow. I can't wait to see her riding along in her little basket!

What are your plans for the weekend?

busy busy...

It's amazing how things can just get so BUSY sometimes! Sadly, blogging is what usually has to take the back burner when things get this way. But hopefully I will get caught up on all of your wonderful blogs this weekend!

A few things that have happened recently:

1. This week in doctor school we received our clinical assignments for next year. I will be receiving training in neuropsychology! Looks like I will be spending the rest of the summer brushing up on brain physio.

2. I started a new Bible study with my life group girls. This time we are doing Beth Moore's "Jesus the One and Only". I am loving it so far! Have any of you ever done this study?

I also started reading Beth Moore's book "Believing God", which I highly recommend to anyone looking to grow their faith.

3. I discovered that there is a Sonic way too close to the site where I'm doing clinical training this summer. I have now indulged on chili cheese tots and cherry limeade 3 times in the past 5 days. I must buy groceries this weekend so I can stop this little cycle!

4. My running is going great but I am eager to add on more miles. Right now I am comfortably running 5.25 miles in the mornings. Hubby and I decided we were going to enter the Disney World half marathon. So I go online to register us and the half marathon is already full! This race is almost 7 months away! The full marathon is almost full as well, so I'm asking myself "Should we go for it? Should we try the marathon?" Or am I being overly ambitious?? Should we just wait for next year?? What do you hard core runners think? Is it possible to go from running 5.25 miles on June 4 to being able to run 26.2 miles by January 10?? I mean, I know it's POSSIBLE, but let's not forget I'm a full time doctorate student who doesn't have beaucoup time to devote to training. Hmmmm...decisions, decisions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)
